1975 Sun Alliance Chase

1975 Sun Alliance Chase

The Sun Alliance Chase at the 1975 Cheltenham National Hunt Meeting was due to be run on Tuesday 11 March but owing to the waterlogged state of the course that day the racing was abandoned and the Sun Alliance Chase was re-scheduled for Thursday 13 March.

On the Thursday, by the time that the Gold Cup (which was the fifth race of the day) had been run the going was unsuitable for any more racing and the remainder of the card - the Sun Alliance Chase, County Handicap Hurdle and Cheltenham Cathcart Champion Hunters' Chase - was lost.

However, the 1975 Sun Alliance Chase was found another time to be run and actually took place at the Cheltenham Holman Cup meeting on Thursday April 17 1975, just over a month after it's intended date.
