George Moore

George Moore (5 July 1923 – 8 January 2008)

George Moore was an Australian Jockey who rode for Noel (later Sir Noel) Murless throughout 1967. The most important of the races he won that year were the Epsom Derby and Newmarket 2000 Guineas on Royal Palace, Newmarket 1000 Guineas on Fleet, the King George VI and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes on Busted, the Park Hill Stakes on Pink Gem (dead-heated), the Princess of Wales Stakes on the Queens Hopeful Venture, the Gordon Stakes on Sun Rock and the Extel Handicap on Sucaryl.

George Moore rode 72 winners from 233 mounts in Britain in 1967 but he did not return for 1968.

Earlier, in 1959 Moore had won the Free Handicap at Newmarket on Petite Etoile trained by Noel Muless and owned by the Aly Khan.
