Epsom Derby Winner Trained in Shropshire

Sir Hugo the winner of the 1892 Epsom Derby was bred and owned by the Earl of Bradford. The horse was trained by Tom Wadlow on his owners estate Weston Park at Weston-under-Lizard near Shifnal in Shropshire.

As a two year old Sir Hugo won the Rous Memorial Stakes at Goodwood and the Boscawen Stakes at Newmarket.

As a three year old he won the Derby at Epsom ridden by Frederick Allsopp at odds of 40/1.

As a four year old Sir Hugo won the Biennial Stakes at Newmarket.
