Felipe Massa of Ferrari will start French Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position, with Lewis Hamilton driving for McLaren alongside. Current World champion Fernando Alonso was prevented from setting a time after his car was struck down with a gearbox problem in the final phase of qualifying.
