How to get to Cartmel Racecourse
By Road - leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 then A590 towards Barrow in Furness for about 10 miles
On race days, AA signs direct racegoers to the racecourse from the motorway
The last few miles to Cartmel Races are along narrow country lanes
On racedays they can be very congested
At peak times it can take some time to travel from the M6 so allow plenty of time and arrive early
By Rail - Train service to Cark Station (2½ miles) with raceday bus service to racecourse or alternatively Grange-over-Sands Station
By Air - Light aircraft landing facilities available at Cark Airfield which is four miles from the course

Oval course of 1 mile 1 furlong with an 800 yard run-in
Almost perfectly flat but very sharp
Longest run-in from the last fence in the country of approximately half a mile
