How to get to Aintree Racecourse

By Road
From the South leave the M6 at Junction 21A
Join the M62 heading West (towards Liverpool)
Leave M62 at Junction 6 to join M57 and follow the signs for the races
From the North leave the M6 at Junction 26 and join the M58 following the signs for the races
From the East Leave M62 at J6 to join M57 and follow the signs for the races

By Rail
Liverpool Lime Street is the nearest mainline station to Aintree
From there Liverpool Central Station is just a short walk away
Here you can catch a train to Aintree Station which is directly opposite the racecourse

By Air
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the nearest airport to the race course and is only about a 30 minute drive away by road
Manchester Airport is approximately a 45 minute drive by road

Aintree National Hunt Course
Grand National course
A circuit of the Grand National course is 2 miles and 2 furlongs in length
It is a flat track with no undulations and big fences
Fences are "dressed" with fir and are a unique style of the Grand National course
Some of which have a drop on the landing side, most notably Becher's Brook
The Grand National course has a long run in of 494 yards

Mildmay course
The Mildmay course at Aintree is 1 mile and 3 furlongs in length and is flat with no undulations
The bends turning out of the home straight and turning out of the back straight are very sharp
The bends into the back straight and into the home straight are more sweeping in nature
The Mildmay course has regulation style fences that are big
