Super Bowl II

"The Second AFL-NFL World Championship Game"
Super Bowl II played on January 14 1968, was won by the Green Bay Packers
In the early to late 1960′s the Packers were the dominant force in the NFL and became the standard for football excellence. They had won the NFL Championship Game three times on the bounce and it was their second straight Super Bowl victory.
This time the Packers beat AFL Champions the Oakland Raiders 33 - 14 at the Orange Bowl in Miami Florida.

In the game the Packers built up a 16 - 7 lead by half time and the outcome never looked to be in any doubt with the Packers scoring ten points in the 3rd quarter with no reply. The 4th quarter evened itself out after both the Packers and Raiders scored seven apiece.
It was after this game that Packers Head Coach Vince Lombardi

Lombardi had guided the Packers to much success throughout his nine year term at Green Bay going 89-29-4 regular season and 9-1 postseason winning nine straight playoff games. In addition to winning Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II Lombardi led success included five NFL Western Conference titles, one NFL Western Conference Central Division title and five NFL Championship Game victories.
Lombardi must have been a tough act to follow at the Packers as his successor Bengtson could only achieve a 20-21-1 regular season record with no playoffs and resigned after just three seasons as Packers Head Coach.
