Chantilly is a right-handed course.
The final straight goes uphill for two furlongs and the last furlong is then flat to the finish line.
It also has a 7 furlongs straight for racing.
The racecourse is also often used for morning workouts by local trainers, especially on Tuesdays.

Chantilly is a very selective racecourse and a good class of race is often run here.

The first ever race at Chantilly was run on May 15th, 1834.
The first Prix du Jockey-Club, now the French Derby, took place two years later and was won by Franck, owned by Lord Seymour.

The first running of the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) was run in 1843.
In 1886, the Duc d'Aumale donated the racecourse to the Institut De France, who now lease it to France Galop.
