Sam Hall
Sam Hall was born 1916 at Towton, Yorkshire
During the Second World War he served in the Merchant Navy
After the war he went to Middleham to assist his brother, the trainer Thomas Hall
In 1949 Thomas died and Sam took over at Brecongill Stables
He trained there until 1968 when he moved to Spigot Lodge Stables at Leyburn
Sam Hall had considerable success in important handicaps at both Northern and Southern Racecourses.
