The 1956 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Birmingham City was won 3-1 by Manchester City, the game made famous by the heroics of the Man City goalkeeper Bert Trautmann who managed to play the final 15 minutes of the match and receive his winners medal despite having a broken bone in his neck which he sustained earlier in the game whilst making a save at the feet of Birmingham's Peter Murphy
