Pulled Up So And So Mr D Gray
One of the better horses that I ever got to ride out was Chinrullah who was pulled up in the 1981 Gold Cup.
Chinrullah had won the 1978 Sweeps Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown and the 1979 Arkle Chase when trained by Mick O′Toole. Chinrullah did actually pass the post first in the 1980 Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Champion Chase but was later disqualified after failing a dope test.
I rode him at work a number of times in 1984 when he had moved on to David Nicholson. At that time I was working at Nicholson′s while I was still at school and I suppose Chinrullah was one of the better horse′s that a kid could get to sit on. A great ride and completely bomb proof. Chinrullah was definitely not just an old plodder or trainers hack, he was a real racehorse.
