1989 World Series Winners Oakland Athletics v San Francisco Giants

The Oakland Athletics beat the San Francisco Giants 4-0 in the 1989 World Series

This was the first World Series to be played between two teams from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Games 3 and 4 were postponed from their original dates due to the Loma Prieta earthquake which shook the San Francisco area which caused many deaths and widespread destruction.

The earthquake struck on 17th October 1989 only moments before game 3 of the Series was due to start and was actually recorded on live television. This game had to be postponed as the Ball Park had to be evacuated.
