I believe this race can be narrowed down to three horses - Squadron, Crack Away Jack and Sonning Star.

Squadron - Alan King′s horses are in good form and his juveniles are always to be very much taken into consideration. Squadron has to give away plenty of weight but is a good stayer which is always a plus with juvenile hurdlers. Seems to go on most going′s so good ground should be right up his street.

Crack Away Jack - Lightly raced and trainer not necessarily in good form. Has come from France where horses are used to running in the mud so no surprise to see this horse run not too bad a race without being knocked about in the soft going at Ascot last month. Might improve further for a bit of decent ground. Seems to jump OK. Has had top jockeys riding each time he′s run so probably wouldn′t be that bigger shock to connections if he did the business one of these times.

Sonning Star - Nick Gifford′s horses are in decent enough form and Jay Pemberton takes off 7lb which can be useful, especially in smallish fields. Sonning Star is reported to like his jumping and although only a maiden on the flat won well at Fontwell Park. "Kingy" should know where he stands against Sonning Star with Squadron as in that Fontwell race he had the third horse who was also the favourite Simba Sun (IRE). The other two could be better stayers but until Sonning Star has really been put to the test we will not know. It will need to be a decent enough gallop as this one might just have a bit of "toe".

Selection - Squadron
